Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup whole milk warmed
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 cups powdered sugar for glaze
- 1/4 cup hot water for glaze
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for glaze
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast
Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy
Add sugar, eggs, softened butter, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture
Mix well
Gradually add the flour and salt to form a sticky dough
Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/2-inch thickness
Cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter or a round cutter with a smaller one for the holes
Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350F 175C
Fry the doughnuts until golden brown, flipping once
Drain on paper towels
In a separate bowl, mix powdered sugar, hot water, and vanilla extract to create the glaze
Dip each doughnut into the glaze, making sure its fully coated
Place on a wire rack to let excess glaze drip off
Allow the glaze to set for about 10 minutes, and your classic glazed doughnuts are ready to enjoy
