Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • White royal icing
  • Food-safe gelatin sheets
  • Edible black marker

Instructions:

Melt the butter and mix it with the sugar in a bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy

Mix the egg and vanilla extract into the flour mixture and beat it well

Mix the baking powder, all-purpose flour, and salt together in a different bowl

Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one at a time until a dough forms

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for at least an hour

Warm the oven up to 350F 175C and put parchment paper on a baking sheet

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough until it is about 1/4 inch thick

Use cookie cutters in the shape of skulls to cut out shapes from the dough

Then, put the shapes on the baking sheet that has been prepared

After the oven is hot, bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden

Let the cookies cool all the way down on a wire rack before you decorate them

Follow the directions on the package to make the white royal icing

To make a base, spread a thin layer of white icing over each cookie that has cooled

Cut out shapes for eyes and mouths from food-safe gelatin sheets

Use a small amount of icing to stick them to the cookies

Add details to the skulls with the edible black marker, like stitches, cracks, and other scary things

Before you serve or package the cake, let the frosting and decorations set
